Yeah,right. Somebody doesn't want to combine .
So if we actually ask the people, like you said, and they give us answers...then instead of them just not wanting to admit stuff, its now they think otherwise, even if they are people who was involved in the decision to move forward with consolidation in the first place.
You're right Spuds, Hurricane Katrina...complete fabrication came up with by the all powerful Dickenson County BOS and school board to help pretent a school being built.
I think Charlie Brown said it best
GOOD GRIEF
Durn you caught on. Would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for you meddling kids.
I'll try this one more time- the budget is done thru the year. Dickenson County's funding was in place and approved by both houses. This happens early in the year , I put up a link to the budget outline, then a line-item-veto was done by Bush. Still, after the 77 flood the ACOE would have funded this if pushed.
I really don't have a horse in this race, but I am confused....the only time the president has had a line item veto was 1996-1998 (Clinton). The Supreme Court affirmed that it was unconstitutional.....Or were you speaking of a different Bush?
Well, I guess if I looked stuff up before I said something I would know that Bush had scaled back line item veto powers from June 2006 until Dec. 2006....
Gee, must have just been an over-all trashing based on the forum performance.

Bush's use of signing statements, to indicate that he would not enforce provisions of laws that he signed. This has been viewed as effectively a line-item veto by the president, raising constitutional issues regarding the practice.[4]
In his 2006 State of the Union address, President George W. Bush requested that Congress give him the line item veto authority.
On June 22, 2006, the United States House of Representatives passed a bill (H.R. 4890) that would call for a six-year line-item veto to cut down on the "pork barrel spending" associated with Congressional lawmaking. The bill stopped short of granting a full line-item veto like the one passed in the 1990s, and instead allows the President to send a bill back to Congress within 45 days for another vote to affirm rider bills. The bill passed 247-172 in the Republican-controlled House.[5] As with all unpassed bills, it expired with the end of the 109th Congress on 9 December 2006. A re-filing of the legislation was killed in the Senate of the following 110th Congress, on January 24, 2007.[6]
Supporters of the presidential line-item veto power contend that it would serve to cut down on frivolous government spending, and that media scrutiny would protect against abuse. Opponents argue that it would violate the separation of powers. See Clinton v. City of New York for additional material on current events.

Probably true but since I was 4 years old at the time I did not have the means to try to push for it

I read all the books I could get my hands on in high school. I credit my education from that instead of those overblown windbags that were teaching there at the time. Well, not all of them were like that. Only a select few made it seem like it was all of them.
